Custom Veneers and Smile Makeovers

Precision, Function, and Style at 1Smile Dental

At 1Smile Dental, veneers are never treated as a shortcut or a cosmetic overlay. Every veneer and smile makeover is approached as a custom restorative and functional design, guided by bite analysis, facial balance, and long-term dental health.

There is no such thing as a one-smile-fits-all veneer. Every patient’s bite, tooth structure, facial anatomy, and lifestyle are different, and the treatment must reflect that reality.

This philosophy is why patients travel from across the Midwest and Chicago to receive veneer treatment at our office.

What Makes Our Veneer Process Different

Many offices advertise “two-appointment veneers.” We do not. At 1Smile Dental, veneers are a multi-step design process, not a rushed procedure.

We intentionally use temporaries between appointments to fine-tune:

  • Bite and occlusion
  • Tooth shape and proportions
  • Speech and comfort
  • Esthetics and smile harmony

This approach leads to predictable results, healthier teeth, and smiles that age well over time.

First Appointment: Consultation, Records, and Candidacy Evaluation

The first appointment is dedicated to understanding the patient and determining whether veneers are appropriate.

During this visit, we:

  • Discuss goals, concerns, and expectations
  • Review medical and dental history
  • Take professional facial and smile photographs
  • Capture digital intraoral scans
  • Evaluate the bite and occlusion in detail

Veneers are not appropriate for every patient. Candidacy depends heavily on bite dynamics, wear patterns, and functional forces. In some cases, veneers alone are not the correct solution.

We also evaluate for:

  • Active infection
  • Gum disease
  • Structural tooth issues
  • Existing restorations that may require crowns instead of veneers

If orthodontic correction such as Invisalign is recommended prior to veneers, this is discussed upfront.

Treatment Planning: Veneers, Crowns, or a Combination

Not all teeth are treated the same way. Many smile makeovers involve a combination of veneers and crowns, depending on tooth position, strength, and bite forces.

Material selection is customized per tooth and may include:

  • Emax for high-esthetic zones
  • Zirconia for strength and durability
  • Feldspathic porcelain for layered, natural translucency

Material choice is dictated by function, longevity, and esthetic goals, not a single default option.

Why We Use Multiple Appointments for Veneers

Once records and planning are complete and no other dental work is required, veneer treatment typically involves two to four appointments, depending on the number of teeth being treated.

We intentionally do not complete veneers in two appointments because:

  • Temporaries allow real-world testing of the bite
  • Small esthetic details are refined gradually
  • Speech and comfort can be evaluated and adjusted
  • Final restorations are more precise and predictable

This process protects your teeth and improves long-term success.

Temporaries: The Most Important Phase of a Smile Makeover

Temporary veneers are not placeholders. They are an essential design tool.

During the temporary phase, we:

  • Adjust bite forces and occlusion
  • Refine tooth length, width, and contour
  • Evaluate smile balance with facial features
  • Make micro-adjustments before final fabrication

Only after the bite and design are proven do we move forward with final porcelain veneers.

Final Veneers: Fully Custom, Never Mass Produced

Every veneer and smile makeover at 1Smile Dental is custom designed for the individual patient. We do not use pre-designed smiles, templates, or standardized shapes.

Final restorations are crafted based on:

  • Your approved temporaries
  • Bite dynamics and functional load
  • Facial proportions and smile line
  • Material performance and longevity

This approach is why our veneers look natural, function comfortably, and remain stable over time.

A Style Driven Practice with Functional Discipline

Our veneer work is style driven, but never at the expense of function. A beautiful smile that compromises the bite will fail.

By integrating cosmetic dentistry with advanced bite evaluation, restorative planning, and material science, we create smiles that are both refined and resilient.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many appointments are needed for veneers?

+

Veneer treatment at 1Smile Dental typically requires two to four appointments depending on the number of teeth and complexity. We intentionally use temporaries between visits to refine esthetics and bite.

Why don’t you offer two appointment veneers?

+

Two appointment veneers do not allow adequate time to evaluate bite, speech, and comfort. Temporaries allow us to fine tune small details before final porcelain is fabricated.

Am I a candidate for veneers?

+

Not every patient is a candidate. Veneers depend heavily on bite dynamics, tooth position, and functional forces. Some patients require Invisalign or a combination of veneers and crowns.

Do veneers ruin your teeth?

+

When properly planned and executed, veneers are conservative and protective. Problems arise when veneers are placed without evaluating the bite or structural integrity.

What materials do you use for veneers?

+

Material selection varies by tooth and function. We use e.max, zirconia, and feldspathic porcelain depending on esthetic needs and bite forces.

Are veneers custom or pre-designed?

+

All veneers at 1Smile Dental are fully custom designed. We do not use pre-designed smiles or templates.

How long do veneers last?

+

Longevity depends on bite, materials, and maintenance. Our process is designed to maximize durability and long-term success.
